Who We Are
Revelation Racing is a small engine testing facility owned by garden tractor pulling enthusiasts, Zach and Jennifer Kerber. We are located in Southwest IA outside of Council Bluffs. Our focus is primarily on the testing of garden tractor motors, typically Kohler K series and Commands. But we also offer dyno testing on snowmobiles as well. We are committed to your satisfaction with our service. Let us know what we can do to help you get the most out of your garden tractor engine or snowmobile!
The Dyno
We use a Land & Sea's DYNOmite Dynamometer rated up to 300 hp. Precision, strain gauge torque readings provide repeatable brake engine horsepower. A computer calculates, displays, and stores rpm, hp, torque, time, etc. The DYNOmite's absorber is actually a very inefficient centrifugal water pump - with a variable flow control. The more water provided to the absorber, the more hp this "pump" requires. It acts as a "brake" on the crankshaft. The resultant absorber housing torque and engine rpm are monitored by computer. During a test, we regulate the engine's rpm (by adjusting supply water via the "Load Control Valve") to slowly sweep through the desired range. The DYNOmite calculates horsepower via the standard formula: Hp = torque (in foot pounds) x rpm / 5,252. http://www.land-and-sea.com/

What You Get
A base line dyno run will provide you with torque, horsepower and rpm measurements at wide open throttle from a low rpm that allows clean acceleration to redline or just after the horsepower curve arcs over. This can be valuable information to asses the affects of changes or modifications. The graphs can be printed for comparison to other dyno runs you make. All dyno runs are done with strict confidentiality. No one will know your dyno results unless you tell them.
Why You Should Dyno
In two words: stop guessing. Why guess when you can diagnose and correct fuel/ignition problems, optimize your engine's tune and measure the affects of changes or modifications. Dyno tuning can be considered one of the best investments you can make because it allows you to realize the full potential of the performance improvements you've made or want to make.
The Cost
We charge $50.00 per hour from the time your motor (or snowmobile) enters the shop to the time it leaves. There is a minimum charge of $50.00 for each dyno run.
Preparation
We recommend you change the oil and filter before a dyno testing session. Clean oil will help reduce wear on bearing surfaces. A new or clean air filter is recommended as well as fresh spark plugs. Fix any oil or fuel leaks because we will not dyno test leaking motors. If you modify your motor the night before the dyno session, make sure it starts and runs! If we bolt your motor to the test stand and it does not run, you will still have to pay for your dyno time. Why? We only have so much time available for dyno testing. When we schedule your dyno run, someone else has to wait for another opening, while the time we scheduled for your run is gone. So make sure your motor is ready to go before you get here.
Dyno Scheduling
Dyno sessions are available by appointment on weekday evenings and one or two Saturdays per month. Stop by with your motor or ship it to us because WE ARE NOW OFFERING OUR SERVICE TO ALL GARDEN TRACTOR PULLERS as well as local participants of the WIGTP (Western Iowa Garden Tractor Pullers) and local area snowmobilers. Contact us at zkbrmachine1@hotmail.com. And while you're at the shop, don't forget to pick up any parts or accessories you may need from Zach Kerber Machine & Design to keep your pulling tractor lookin' good and runnin' its' best.
Disclaimer
Do not bring "junk" to be dyno tested. The dynamometer puts full throttle loads on the motor. By requesting a dyno run, you are stating that the motor that you are running on the dyno is in good mechanical condition and that you will not hold Revelation Racing or any of it's representatives liable for any damages. If your motor flies apart, you will be responsible for any damages that occur to the facilities during your time on the dynamometer.
